Joe: Buffalo

Filed under: Joe Thomas Blog — admin @ 7:57 pm May 18, 2012

Last week, I traveled to Buffalo, New York to shoot an episode of Stihl’s Reel in the Outdoors with my good friend and guide, Tim Braun. Now the Buffalo area of Lake Erie holds a special place in my memory, as that is where I won the $100,000 All American Championship early in my career.

NEWS!! Slender Pointer

The Slender Pointer which was created for Smallmouth Bass is starting to come up! A picture of Joe Thomas during a shoot for a TV show was sent to me. I will never forget, this lure was developed after Joe had taught me many things about fishing in North America. I heard this year; the Misty Shad color is very successful. I want to go to Lake Erie.

This week started with Mother’s Day. So, me and the girls took Kim golfing at Black Oak Golf Course near our home in Auburn. We had a great time at the course. I had a few good holes, more bad ones, but I parred a couple of holes and didn’t on others.

I went into Douglas Lake feeling very optimistic. I had done my homework and felt ready for what was going to be happening once we got there. Once practice started, I was able to locate some really good schools of fish.

Filed under: Joe Thomas Blog — admin @ 7:57 pm May 7, 2012

As I write this I am still recovering from the jet lag after my trip to the South Island of New Zealand. I traveled there last week to shoot an episode for Scent Lok’s High Places. I have always been fascinated by New Zealand and dreamed of going there someday, and after 50 years, I finally got my opportunity!

It was really frustrated week for me. I couldn’t find quality fish deep so,I fished shallow during tournament. I had a plenty of bites but lost few key fish to make day 3 cut. Just little things didn’t go my way and finished 75th place. I’ll move on and regroup to next. Thanks your support.

DFM: Halibut!

Filed under: Salt Water Fishing,The Daily Flash Minnow — admin @ 7:18 pm

I suddenly received a message from my friend and it said, “I caught a Halibut!”
So I continued to read the message and it was a 26in big size Halibut! I want to keep the location a secret for now because I’ll be going there on my next fishing trip!

He had also mentioned that it was the biggest he’s ever caught with a hardbait lure and he used our FM110 in Aurora Calico Bass.

On this same day another friend of mine also caught a 22in Halibut and that was again caught with our FM110, but in the Sexy Smelt (new color).

Catching Halibuts with the FM means they are coming along the surface area which also equals to “increase in activity”!! The Halibut season is finally here in the West Coast region!

I’m very excited to go on my next fishing trip!
