Old Hickory Lake Recap – Rick ClunnRick Clunn discusses his 5th place finish using a Lucky Craft RC 3.5 crankbait. He also used a RC 3.5 Rattle version. Exciting!Ok, I know I’m sounding like a broken record but yesterday was another great UMF Match! Our competitors were Scott Suggs from the FLW Tour vs. Dustin Wilkes from the Postmaster Elite Series. It came down to the wire and was super exciting to watch. Rick Clunn’s – River Red ColorsLucky Craft and Rick Clunn have created two new colors for the RC series sold at Bass Pro Shops. Rick, with the help of his son, Hunter, have come up with two new “red” colors that Rick has with him during this week’s Bassmaster Classic taking place on the Red River. The two new colors are River Red Shad and River Red Craw. For photo’s of the bait, check out http://www.thedailycrank.com UMF: Another Great MatchWe had another great UMF Match on Lanier today between Anthony Gagliardi and Gerald Swindle. G-man kept my crew laughing all day with his one liners and “Swindlisms”. Big FishToday’s UMF Match between Bryan Thrift and Aaron Martins was awesome! Lots of big fish caught! Should make an outstanding episode. UMF: The Winner Is….Today was the first day of Ultimate Match Fishing. Our competitors, Tom Mann Jr. and Dan Moorehead, slugged it out on Lake Lanier until the very end. The bass here are in a transition stage just coming off the spawn. Our match was very close but in the end…… Oh, you didn’t think I would actually let that out, did ya? UMF Boat PrepI started my day in Chattanooga meeting with the owners of Chattanooga Sun and Fun Marine. They are taking care of our UMF boats, so I wanted to stop in and day hello and make sure the boats were in order and ready for my guys to pick up later in the afternoon to transport the to Lake Lanier. Packed with MeaningThere are two things that I really hate about my job. One is the packing for extended road trips and the other is saying good-bye to my wife and daughters. Today, I got to do both! It is especially tough when it is an long trip like this one, causing me to be gone over Easter! Dana PointIt’s been 2 weeks since my last shore fishing. This time, I went 30 miles south from our Lucky Craft USA office to a place called Dana Point. This place is also going to be the location of the SWBA 3rd stage competition. But since I won’t be fishing on a boat, it won’t really be a good examination of the place for the tournament. However from now on, for this Daily Flash Minnow report, I will be going on fishing trips to the southern region from our office for awhile. I am planning on going as far as San Diego! Anyways, even in Dana Point I found 2 piers just like they have in Long Beach and Redondo Beach. My first location was from the pier right next to the education center and I there I casted a Flash Minnow. Unfortunately I got no hits and all of a sudden it started to rain so I decided to wait in my car (It can get very dangerous when fishing in the rain, so everybody please be safe). The rain had stopped and I decided to go to the other pier. But there were a lot of surfers here and it seemed a bit tough for shore fishing. So I went on the pier and decided to examine the surface a little with a Flash Minnow. Since it was my fist time fishing in Dana Point, I wanted to understand what the bottom surface was like, so I used the Valid 70H to explore the ocean floor. I used a lift-and-fall action and dropped the lure all the way to the bottom first, then slowly retrieved and examined the condition. The bottom is covered with sand with a lot of large rocks and kelps. And if you don’t understand the area, the lure tends to keep getting caught into things which led me to losing mine. I ended up going home with no fish, but I did get to confirm that there are a lot of fishing locations in the southern region also, so I am very excited for the upcoming season. In Dana Point, there are landing areas so it is possible to go boat fishing too! Sandy P.S. I lost one of my favorite Valid lure, so I’m a bit bummed. My first fishing spot was here! And my second spot on a pier was here! Dana Point |
