NEWS: TOHere is what’s going on with TO lately. He arrived to California today and for a whole week, he is planning on getting ready for his next competition. There will be a lot of lure development meetings as well. DFM: Japan Expedition! Part 2Continuing from my last post, I want to share a little more about my trip to Japan. Some of you already might know about the H-1 Grand Prix tournament held by Lucky Craft, and we were fortunate enough to be able to sponsor it again for the second time this year! All 5 competitions were held in the Kanto region and the 2012 H-1 GPX champion/AOY was earned by Mr. Sasaki who is also an editor of Basser Magazine. On the other hand, last year’s champion – Mr. Ito from Marukyu Co. was devastated from being so close to winning the tournament again landing in 2nd place. I actually went to Tonegawa with Mr. Ito on this trip to capture some good fishing spots and also comments on how the 5 intense competitions went. This film will soon be viewed on Enjoy DVD so please stay tuned! As for fishing in Tonegawa, Mr. Ito amazingly caught 2 in the morning. I originally wanted to film some hard bait fishing as an H-1 extra edition clip – so I had Mr. Ito throw in some hard baits, but due to the condition he had to switch it to a Texas Rig & Neko Rig. Then he caught 2 with that. Afterwards Mr. Ito kindly gave me a – as he will call it -“Texas Training Session” and my Bass fishing skills definitely got better! Next week 2012 H-1 GPX winner, Mr. Sasaki will be visiting the United States and hope he will enjoy and learn a lot about fishing here. So please stay tuned for that as well! Sandy NEWS: A New DiscoveryUnfortunately my fun fishing camp with Skeet came to an end. However, we did find out an exciting discovery! The Gunfish 135 & Flash Pointer 115 became one of Skeet’s powerful lures! Unlike the usual fishes in California Delta there were fairly small Bass, but we did catch a lot of them! Also, a new secret item was completed here… This item will be presented very soon so please stay tuned!! DFM: Japan Expedition! Part 1I actually went to Osaka & Kanto region in Japan this time around to go on a fishing training expedition. On my very first fishing lesson, I had gone to Aono dam in Hougo prefecture with Mr. Fukuda from Fivecore. And I got to use their original rods from Fivecore as well. I used the same rod Lucky Craft pro staff Mr. Suzuki Mitsuo uses as one of his favorite – the Finesse Flip Rod (He won the TBC Classic tournament with this rod). I decided to use a smaller type lures such as the Clutch DR, Bevy Crank MR and some testing with the new BS 65FC.Since it rained the previous day, the water temperature decreased quite a bit and so instead of doing the shad pattern, using a small scale crankbait was more effective and got more bites. I used both silent and rattle depending on the condition: towards the beginning I used the silent lure and got a few bites, but as the time passed I noticed the Bass would show more interest in the rattle. I personally caught 1 on the silent Clutch DR and that was my very first Bass caught in Japan! Also, as someone who goes power fishing in America a lot, there was an extremely surprising fact on this amazing rod Japanese people created using their high technical strength. You can cast this Finesse Flip Rod using only one arm!! Believe it or not, my arm doesn’t even get tired and I could use this rod all day long! If anyone is interested, please go to the link below for further information. I’m definitely getting one for myself! This fishing day was filmed and will be posted very soon! So please stay tuned! Fivecore Finesse Fillip Sandy NEWS: The Last Shallow Pattern of the FallIt has now gotten deep into the fall season. It’s also becoming so cold I believe winter is just around the corner. Despite the fact, is everybody still fishing? Beanies and neck warmers are a must now. The other day I had gone shallow pattern fishing which I believe was the very last time this season with our pro staff, Brent Ehrler. The vibrating lure and crankbaits (LV500, RTO 150 & RTO 1.5, LC 1.5DRS) worked wonders! As I thought, the LC 1.5DRS & RTO 1.5 worked great with this pattern – it made it a lot easier to throw in the lure, to make its reaction and to even let it bite. I was a bit surprised with how great the “Ja-do (w/ blade) LV500” performed. It caught so many! Even after the bites calmed down, with this blade action, it continued to catch more! I was stunned. BASSEAST: G-Man Lights Out CrankingGerald Swindle is one of the funniest guys in fishing, but he gets serious about fall cranking. DFM: The Secret Lure!!On this day, I went fishing with Brent Ehrler at his home lake – Lake Perris! It’s actually been awhile since the last time I’ve gone fishing with him. Right when we arrived at the lake, Brent said to me, “we’ll definitely catch some today!” I then decided to enjoy fishing using only hard baits. I simply straight retrieved my LV-RTO 150 (in Ghost Minnow) above the shallow area where there were sunken trees and grass. Then I immediately got my very first bite of the day!! Brent also mentioned that “Ghost” colors works better in this lake than “Chart” colors! He was so right!! In the afternoon at about 1 o’ clock I decided to cast in the back shade area. I cast with certainty that there were Bass in this area. And as I imagined! I got a bite!! This time I used a lure that is still currently under development. Unfortunately I can’t share anything about this lure yet… I ended up catching 2 with this secret lure! I was very satisfied with what I got. As for Brent? He is a true professional! He caught 3 with the lure he developed – the LC 1.5DRS! And also with the secret lure, he caught 8 of them!!! Amazing!! I will be announcing this secret lure in the near future, so please stay tuned!! Sandy |
