平目！！

世界中のラッキークラフトファンの皆さま～！Daily Flash Minnow Weekly Reportになります！

先週から課題にしてます、「ポインター78SR」で釣る！今週も引き続き挑戦です。今日の釣行場はロングビーチ！気合十分に日の出と同時釣行をスタート。無数の海鳥がビーチ際近くに集まっているベイトを捕食している姿を確認でき、「ポインター78SR」いわゆるマッチザベイトを狙ってキャスト開始。時間と共に海鳥の姿は消え、満潮に差し掛かり、ルアーをエースのFM110チェンジすることにした。ビーチサイドから駆け上がりをバイトチャンスと考え意識し、リトリーブスピードをアクションを入れながら行ったが、ノーバイト。場所をジェティーへの変更。なるべくケルプの少ないジェティーの所で再開、FM120DDへとルアーを変更。ロングキャストからボトムの地形変化を感じながら、ゆっくりとリトリーブすると！！グ～イット！！バイトを頂きました！！久しぶりのヒラメです。サイズは小さいが久しぶり過ぎて、思わずガッツポーズです。ルアーを変更しこれから新発売されますＣＩＦシリーズPT100DDでも、バイトを頂きました。

ここで、あることに試してみようと！？ルアーをダウンサイズし、若干、FM120DD/PT100DDよりダイビングレンジ浅いボトムを叩かないルアーSS90V2に変更。すると、バイトが無くなり無反応状態に・・・そこで、考えが正しければ、今日の平目は海底にべったり生息していて、表層を意識してないのではなか？？と・・・再度、ルアーFM120DDに変更すると、予想が的中！！再び、バイトを頂きました。
本日4・5匹目平目を立て続けに釣り上げ、頭で考えイメージした釣りができました。ポインター78SRでノーフィッシュでしたが、新しい釣行方法が確立されたかもしれません。

“Halibut!!”

I am continuing my mission from last week: to catch a fish with the “Pointer 78SR”! Today’s fishing location is Long Beach, CA! I left right when the sun came up and started fishing with much motivation. I found some seabirds gathering near the beach preying for some baits, so I used the matching the bait method and started casting the “Pointer 78SR”. The seabirds started disappearing over time and high tide approached, so I decided to change my lure to the FM110. I thought from the beach side would be a good area for a chance to grab a bite, so from there I would make some actions while retrieving, but got no bites… I then decided to go to the jetty. I tried to find an area where there were less kelps and started fishing with the FM120DD. After making a long cast, I would slowly retrieve while feeling the geographical changes on the bottom surface. Then I felt a pull!! I got a bite!! It’s been awhile since I caught my last Halibut! It was a small size Halibut, but it’s really been awhile so I was very happy! Afterwards, I changed my lure to the upcoming new lure: the CIF Series PT100DD. I got a bite with that as well.

I then wanted to try out something different! I wanted to downsize my lure to the SS90V2 where unlike the FM120DD or PT100DD, the diving range is shallower and won’t hit the bottom. But unfortunately got no bites and had absolutely no reaction with that… My assumption was that today’s Halibut are all inhabited in the bottom area of the ocean and have no conscious of the surface. So I again change my lure to the FM120DD and my assumption was right! I got another bite! I caught about 4-5 Halibuts one after another and got to fish exactly how I imagined. Unfortunately I didn’t get to catch any with the Pointer 78SR, but I think I established a new fishing method.

本日は、久しぶりのレドンドでの釣行。レドンドはジェティからの釣行が多いが、今回は、初レドンドスポーツフィッシングから見て左側の岩場からの釣行を行った。情報によるとこのポイントで先週から7パウンドクラスの超大型ヒラメが5匹以上あがった事をスタッフの方から聞き！期待に胸が膨らむ！さらに、今回の釣行は指令があり「ポインター78SR」のメタリックサーディンとNCシェルホワイトで魚を釣り上げる事を課題にしてみた。普段から使用している、フラッシュミノーとは違い、キャストの飛距離は出ないが、結構飛びます！！

また、ＳＲ（シャローランナー）なのでリトリーブをしながら、表層を泳ぐ小魚のイメージをさせながら引くことも出来る。
今回の操作方法は、一般的なスローリトリーブとストップアンドゴーを組み合わせながら橋の足周りから攻めで見たがあたりは無し。
イカなどを使っている釣り人は、結構釣果があるが・・・・この日は、ノーフィッシュ！！（ＦＭ110も使いましたが・・）

”An Order!! Catch a Fish with this Lure!”

On this week’s Daily Flash Minnow Weekly Report, I will like to talk about my trip to Redondo Beach, CA. It’s been awhile since my last fishing trip here. In Redondo Beach, I mostly fish along the jetty, but this time I started fishing in the rocky area to the left side of my very first Redondo Beach Sport Fishing. I heard from a staff that at this fishing spot last week, 5 large 7 pounder Halibuts were caught! That definitely got my hopes up! And this time I have a fishing mission to complete: to catch some with the “Pointer 78 SR” in Metallic Sardine & NC Shell White. Unlike the Flash Minnow I usually use, the Pointer doesn’t leap as much when casting, but it still does jump quite a bit!! The SR is called the “Shallow Liner”, so when retrieving, let it swims on the surface in replication to a small fish. The technique I used this time was the combination of the general “slow retrieve” and “stop and go” actions. With that, I kept aiming around the legs of the bridge, but got nothing. The people who were using squids were catching a lot…. But unfortunately I got no fish today!! (I also tried using the FM110…)

I will carry it over for next time.

3ヶ月ぶりにNewport Beachに釣行にいく事！！最後に来たのは５月下旬まったくケルプが無く、ルアーマンにとっては最高の時期でしたが、夏場は天敵のケルプが多く慎重にリトリーブをしなくてはならない。キャストの回数も減少し釣果率も下がることになるとだろう！なぜ、そのようなことが起きるかというと、足元ギリギリまでルアー引いてくるとケルプにひっかかり、ルアーの回収が困難になるとケルプ前で一旦リトリーブを止めルアーがフロートするのを待って引き上げると回収可能になる。そのため、時間にロスがうまれるのである。
昨年、釣りを始めた頃はよくルアーをケルプにひっかけ失くしました。懐かしいものですね！！笑

さて、本日は、微風からやや強い風に変化したため、ジェティー沿いからの釣行を途中で切り上げ、今回は初めて釣行するポイントに移動！　ここは餌釣りの人が毎回居て、人気のスポットでもあり、風も当たらず好いポイントだが、ルアーマンには少し狭い環境だが、トライすることにした。ケルプの存在を気にせず釣行が出来るのだが、隣の釣り人のラインをひかっける可能性もあり、釣行よりも、私の使用しているルアー皆興味があるようだったので、ＦＭを紹介し、早めにこの日は釣行を終えてきた。もちろん釣果は無しですが、地道な宣伝と行動でラッキーソルトルアー市場を盛上げて行きたいと思います。

“Been Awhile…”

It’s been 3 months since I last went fishing at Newport Beach! The last time I was here it was in late May and there were no kelps and it was a great time for lure fishermen. However, during this time in the summer there are a lot of kelps which makes it much harder – you need to be extra careful when retrieving. This means a much less number of times in casting, which also means less chance of catching fishes! The reason for this is when you retrieve your lure all the way near your feet; it gets caught up in the kelp. And if it gets caught in a hectic manner, you need to stop retrieving and wait for the lure to float up on its own. Then you should be able to pull it up, but this creates loss in time. Last year, I remember getting my lures caught in the kelps a lot!! LOL

Anyhow, on this day the breeze transitioned to strong winds, so I stopped fishing along the jetty and changed location to a spot I’ve never been before! At this spot, there is usually a lot of people bait fishing and it’s also known to be a popular area. Winds don’t come by this area and it is a really good fishing spot, but it may be a bit of a small environment for lure fishing but I might as well give it a try. I didn’t have to worry about getting caught in the kelps here, but I had to worry about getting my line caught up with others next to me. People there were very interested in the lures I was using, so I introduced the FM to them and then decided to end my fishing after. I obviously didn’t get to catch any that day, but I did get to do a little bit of advertising. I will definitely like to continue to market the Lucky Craft soft lures!

久しぶりにロングビーチからのサーフフィッシング！！本日は、友人のＫさんと日の出前から準備し日の出と同時にスタート。
この日は、干潮から満潮にかけて正午までを目安に釣行することにした。水は濁りが入っている状況だが、風もなく釣れそうな予感。

友人にFM110（メタリックサーディン）を渡し、僕は濁り具合を見てゴールド系で攻めてみる事にし、最近の傾向を予測して今回はビーチサイドからではなくジェティー沿いからスタートした。（干潮時は駆け上がりに居るヒラメが沖に移動してしまうため、ヒラメが居ない確立が高い、反対に満潮時は駆け上がりにヒラメが多く居るため、ビーチからの方がヒットする確率が高くなる・・あくまでも持論だが）
ジェティーからの釣行では、足元にケルプが多く生えてるため、ＤＤ系ではケルプにひっかかるため使用不可能なので皆さん気をつけてくださいね！さて、釣行開始から２時間、釣り人も増えてきたその時！ついに友人の竿に魚がヒット！！竿のしなり具合で大型の何かが！！慎重にランディングに成功し大型のヒラメを吊り上げた！！友人にとっては初のヒラメゲットです！！リーガルサイズを期待して計測してみることに。惜しい・・22インチのヒラメであった。友人は仕事のため、帰宅したが・・・僕は諦めません！
ビーチサイドから釣行再開！！この日は、ベイトリールでキャストしていため、駆け上がり部分までルアーを投げられず、正午前まで釣行しこの日は終了！！

その後、ロングビーチのタックルショップで営業と釣り情報の交換をしてきた。しかも、タックルショップオリジナルサーフ用ロッドを作成してくれることになったので、乞うご期待ください。また、FM110も在庫しているお店なので、皆さん足を運んでみてください。

“Almost!!”

It’s been awhile since my last surf fishing in Long Beach, CA. This time I went with my friend “K” and we started to get ready before day light and started fishing right at sunrise. On this day, I decided to go fishing ambitiously from high tide to low tide until noon. The water is cloudy, but there are no winds and I felt like I just might catch some.

I handed my friend the FM110 (Metallic Sardine) and from observing the turbidity level of the water I decided to use a gold color lure. From predicting the recent trends, instead of fishing from the beach side, I started off fishing along the jetty. (During low tide, the Halibuts that are in the bank migrates offshore so it is most likely that there won’t be any Halibuts. In the other hand, during high tide there are a lot of Halibuts in the bank so there’s a better chance fishing from the beach… But this is just my theory) There are a lot of kelps by my feet when fishing from the jetty, and if you use a DD (Deep Diver) it will easily get caught up, so everybody please be carful with that! After 2 hours of fishing and right around when more fishermen started to arrive, my friend gets a bite!! By the bent of the rod, it looked like a big one!! He carefully succeeded in landing and caught a big size halibut! It was his very first Halibut!! Hoping it would be a legal size we measured it, but he barely made it… it was 22inches. My friend left early because he had work, but I didn’t want to give up!
I then started fishing at the beach side!! On this day, I was casting with a bait reel so my lure couldn’t reach the bank… I continued to fish right before noon and ended it there.

Afterwards I went to a tackle shop in Long Beach and did some business and traded fishing information. Also, this tackle shop will be creating their original surf rod for me so please stay tuned for that! They have the FM 110 in stock here as well so please come check it out!

世界中のラッキークラフトファンの皆さま～！Daily Flash Minnow Weekly Reportになります！

世界最大のフィッシングショー2011 I Cast Showも無事に終わり、釣りリポートになります。今週は、ラッキークラフトの新入社員のMさんと始めての釣り体験・講習に本社近くにある、エルドラードパーク（詳細は下記）でバス釣り初体験に挑戦してみました。

釣り初体験という事でラインの結び方などを事前に勉強してもらい、いよいよ釣行当日！！大きいフィールドで安心してキャストの練習を出来るが、いちばん事故の多いキャスト！！キャストをする前には必ず、後ろの状況を確認してから投げる！！このことをはじめに伝え、初心者が最も簡単にキャストすることが出来るオーバーキャストで、1日釣りをしてもらい事になった。流石、○○をやっているだけあって、キャストのコツは○○と同じ、少しだけ、振りかぶりの位置を修正するだけ・・Mさん流石です。数キャストで完全に身につけて、1時間もしないうちに実釣へ。本人にラッキークラフトで1番好きなルアー（スキート使用のレデンプション）を投げてもっらい公園を一周したが、この日は釣果ゼロでした。私自身は、日ごろ練習のできないサミー・ファットスマッシャーMINIなどを使用してTOPウォーターの釣り練習を続けたが、釣果ゼロです。今後、Mさんとの釣行レポートも増える予定なので、焦らず共に成長していきます。

このエルドラードパークは、いわゆるアシ・ブッシュとバスが好みそうなポイントが幾つもあり、まるで日本の陸っぱりです。もちろん何も障害物もない駄々広い、公園の池の様なポイントもありますが、家族連れ楽しみのには最適です。

“M’s First Fishing Experience”

The world’s greatest fishing show, the ICAST 2011 has ended and now back to my usual fishing report. This week, I went fishing with our new Lucky Craft employee “M” and it was her very first fishing experience. We went to El Dorado East Regional Park near our office to challenge on her very first Bass fishing.

Since it was M’s first time, I had her practice on making knots prior to our fishing day, and now we are ready to start!! The field is big so it was a perfect place to practice casting. Although there are many accidents in casting so you really need to check behind you before you throw! I mentioned this to M in the beginning and had her work on over casting for the day since it is the easiest for beginners. Since she practices OO, the casting technique is very similar to OO and just the position of the rod before throwing needs to be modified a little… M surprised me with her skills. After practicing couple casts, within an hour she quickly learned the technique and moved on to actual fishing. I had M use her favorite lure (Skeet Reese – Redemption Spinnerbait) and go around the entire pond. Unfortunately there were no catches today. As for me, I used lures that I normally don’t use such as the Sammy and Fat Smasher Mini. I continued to practice using topwater baits, but caught nothing also. From now on there will be more reports on fishing with M and I would like to patiently brush up my skills also.

This park has a lot of areas that perennial plants, bushes, and Bass favors and it is very similar to Okappari (shore fishing) in Japan. Of course there are no other obstacles and it seems like just a vast park pond, but it is a nice location for family fun.

2011 I Cast Show – Part 2

世界最大のフィッシングショー2011 I Cast Showのリポート,第2弾です。
フィッシングショーと言えば、プロスタッフよる今年発表の新商品紹介＆ビデオ撮影。ショー2日目は、あのスキート・リースが午前中にラッキークラフトブースに居るとのことで、Fat SmasherとSmasher125Sと新色の撮影をさせてもらった。さすが！！スキート！！常日ごろから、慣れているのでしょう！どの商品の撮影も一発ＯＫ！しかも、商品のポイントもしっかり紹介もしてくれて、さらに！世界中のみなさんがこの映像を見るとの事で、ちょっとしたオチャラケもあり、スムーズに撮影が終了！さら、日本のファンの皆さんにも、一言メッセージを頂けたので、後日Youtubeで配信したいと思いますので、楽しみにしてください。

新商品撮影は、スキート以外のプロスタッフにもお願いをし撮影をしていますので、Youtubeにて御覧いただけますのでお楽しみにしてください。ケリー/ジェラルド/ブレント/ケーシー/キャリー

初日のショーも終わり、夕刻には2011 Best of Showの発表が行われた。各部門ごとに枠が設けていて、ラッキークラフトはハードルアー部門にノミネートし結果を待つことにした。Best of Show・部門ごとの大賞の決定方法は、すでに審査委員が決められていて、すべてのルアーを実際に見て判断し、最終的に投票をするといったシンプルな方法で決定させる。結果、残念ながらラッキークラフトのハードルアーは大賞をいただけなかったですが、また、来年に期待してください。

This is part2 report on the world’s greatest ICAST Fishing Show 2011.
And the Fishing Show is all about introducing upcoming new products with pro staffs and filming. On this 2nd day, Skeet Reese was with us in the morning at the Lucky Craft booth so we filmed him introducing the new Fat Smasher, Smasher 125S, and new colors. Skeet was amazing!! He must be so use to doing this from all the experience he’s had. He introduced every product in one take! Not only that, he included all the features of the lures and didn’t forget to add a little bit of humor for the world to see. The filming went very smoothly! He also gave us a message to his fans in Japan & we will be uploading it on Youtube very shortly, so please stay tuned.
We also filmed our other pro staffs (Kelly Jordan, Gerald Swindle, Brent Ehrler, Casey Ashley, and Cary Bever) introducing new products and this will be up on Youtube as well.

The first day of the Fishing Show ended and in the afternoon they announced the 2011 Best of Show awards. It is divided into categories and Lucky Craft was nominated in the Hard Lure division. The winners for each category were already chosen by the judges who have already observed the actual products. The winner is then chosen simply by the most votes it gets. In result, unfortunately Lucky Craft did not win, but we will hope for next year.

2011 I Cast Show

世界中のラッキークラフトファンの皆さま～！Daily Flash Minnow Weekly Reportになります！

今週は、2回に分け、アメリカはラスベガスで開かれます、世界最大のフィッシングショー2011 I Cast Showのリポートをさせて頂きます。

ラスベガスまで片道4時間半、今年のラッキークラフトブースをトラックに積み込み出発！現地到着後、ブースの設営と準備！！一体今年のブースはどんなに素敵なブースになるのか楽しみですね！下記写真がブースです。

設営も終わり！！どうですか！！このカッコよさ！！さすがでラッキーブースです。今年の新商品、バス関係ではSmasher125, Fat Smasher, LC系（クランク）, 新色5色の展示と紹介・さらにソルトルアーのFM120DD,  PT 100DDの展示をさらに盛り上げるべく、今回のために集まってくてたプロスタッフ達と賑やかに初日を迎える事になった。各ベンダーさんにも今年の新商品の説明もうまく出来き、ソルトルアーの販売も上場の予感です。特に海外（南米）のベンダーさんに人気だったFMシリーズPTシリーズ、南米では未だ未知の商品らしく、興味心身でルアーを見てくれてました。ブログで釣り上げた数々の魚の写真を並べ、FMの特徴・PTの特徴と説明をし、ベンダーさんの心を虜にできたのではないかと思う！！

他社のブースも、今後のための参考として見て周り、新発想のアイディアにしたいと思い歩き回った。1日では回りきれいほど店舗数と商品数！！また、今夜の各部門（ハードルアー部門・ソフト・ロッド・リールなど）ごとの賞の発表が楽しみである。ラッキークラフトからは、あのスキート・リースが開発した、Fat Smasherでハードルアー部門でノミネートしているので、初日の夜の式典が本当に楽しみです。

次回のリポートは、2011I Cast Show今年のNo,1商品の発表式典の様子と2日目の様子をリポートさせていただきます。乞うご期待ください。

This week, I’m going to divide my report into 2 parts and talk about the world greatest fishing show, the 2011 ICAST Show held in Las Vegas. We loaded up our Lucky Craft booth in the truck and headed out on a 4 and a half hour drive to Vegas! Immediately after we arrived, we started on our preparation and construction of the booth!! I’m excited to see how great our booth will turn out to be this year! The booth looked like the following picture in the beginning.

The Lucky Craft booth construction was finally completed!! What do you think!? Isn’t it great!? This year’s new products are: for Bass, the Smasher 125, Fat Smasher, LC Crank, and 5 new colors also. And for Saltwater, the FM 120DD and PT 100DD. To help introduce these new products, some of our pro anglers had gathered here with us. I was able to introduce our new products to each vendor pretty well and I have a feeling the Saltwater lure sales will be highly listed. Especially to the Southern America vendors, the Flash Minnow & Pointer Series were pretty popular. Supposedly in Southern America, these products are still pretty unfamiliar and they were showing a lot of interest in them. I showed them some pictures of the fishes I caught for my blog reports and explained to them some features of the FM & PT. I think I captured the vendor’s interest!!

I went around looking at other company booths for future reference and for new ideas. It was impossible to look at all the booths there in one day!! I was excited for the announcement of tonight’s awards for each division (Hard lure division, soft lure, rod, real, and etc.). From Lucky Craft, developed by Skeet Reese, the Fat Smasher is nominated in the hard lure division. I’m really excited for the opening night ceremony.
On my next report, I want to talk about the 2011 ICAST Show #1 product presentation ceremony as well as how the 2nd day went. Please stay tuned!

今週はアラミトスベイからヒラメを狙い行きました。早朝から干潮にあたり表層系ルアーのＦＭ110・PT100で開始。ジェティーからビーチサイドからキャストするがアタリは無し。カラーをゴースト系にチェンジしサイド、ビーチサイドを扇状にキャストをしては移動とテンポ良く釣行するがはやり当りはゼロ。潮が上がり始めた所いよいよ、チャンス到来！！レンジの深い所を狙うべく、ＤＤ系ルアーに変更！！しかし、不運にも風が強まり水面は大荒れとルアーをキャストしても飛距離が足りなく、狙ったポイントにとど来ない状況であえなく終了。戻る事にした。帰りの途中で、アングラーズセンターで釣具の購入と立ち寄った際、偶然にも友人と会い。午後からＨ君とＴ君でバス釣りに行くとの事でそちらに同行させて貰いことにした。場所はいわゆる公園にある人口池。バス釣り初の陸っぱりから釣行、しかも自転車に乗りながら場所を移動していく手段！！まさに！サバイバルフィッシング！！！

釣行場所に着くやバス釣りを楽しんでいる人が多数。しかも、トップーウォーター！！さらに！！ラッキークラフトのサミーちゃんをキャストしている人も発見。なんだか、嬉しかったですね！

さて、実際の釣行では、新製品のファットスマッシャー55をテスト・・・今年流行間違いなしの製品に仕上がっていることを確信。

自転車で移動をしていくと、Ｔ君にヒット！！47ｃｍバスをスピナーベイトで取り込み記念撮影！！この後にもナイスサイズのバスをGET!!そんな、僕にもやっと当りが・・・池の周りに生えているブッシュの足を平行にスピナーベイト（レデンプション3/8のチャートリュース）とゆっくり一定に引くと、軽い当りが・・あわてずしっかり合わせるとサイズは小さいがバス！！ブッシュに潜りこまれる前に巻き込むとその瞬間！！バスがジャンプ！！！気を抜いた時だった・・・バスが逃走。日ごろ海釣りの感覚で巻き込んでるせいか、すっかり忘れてしまった基本の注意事項を怠ってしまった。残念の結果である。

電話での連絡を取り合い互いに現在の状況やどのルアーで他の人が釣り上げたなど、有意義なバスフィッシングができた思う。また、同行したＨ君もこの日数回のバイトと２匹GETしたとの情報。この池のポテンシャルはなかなか良い事を知り、またの釣行が楽しみである。

This time, I had gone to Alamitos Bay to catch some Halibut. It was at low tide in the early morning so I decided to use some surface lures such as the FM110 & PT100. I continued to cast going from the jetty to beachside, but got nothing. I then changed my lure to a gold color and kept casting again along the beachside, but didn’t get anything. The tide started to rise and thought my chance finally came!! I changed my lure to a DD to aim at a deeper range!! Unfortunately the wind started blowing pretty strong and created raging waves. The casting lure couldn’t go further than the aiming point so I had to end it there. I started heading back and on the way I stopped by an Anglers center tackle shop and coincidentally ran into some friends of mine, H & T! They were planning on going Bass fishing in the afternoon so I decided to join them. It was going to be at a man-made pond located at a park. This will be my very first experience Bass fishing at a man-made pond! And we are using a bicycle to travel along the pond!! This is definitely “Survival fishing”!!!

Once we arrived there, there were several people already having a good time Bass fishing. And they were using Topwater baits!! Also!! I found someone using our Lucky Craft Sammy! That made me pretty happy!

I started off using our new product, the Fat Smasher 55 to test it out as well… I was convinced that this product will no doubt be popular this year.

While we were moving with our bikes, T gets a bite!! He caught a 47cm Bass with a Spinnerbait!! And even after that, he caught another nice size Bass!! Later on, I finally got a bite… when I slowly retrieve the Spinnerbait (Redemption 3/8 in Chartreuse) parallel to the bottom part of the bushes surrounding the pond, I would get a slight bite… Trying to remain calm, I would go along with the bite and succeeded in catching a small size Bass!! I retrieved before it’d go into the bushes and at that moment!! The Bass jumped!!! It totally took me off guard… the Bass got away… Because I got so use to Saltwater fishing, I completely forgot most of the important basic techniques in fishing. What an unfortunate result.

We would talk over the phone telling each other our situation and which lures other people used to catch some fishes. I really felt like I got to experience a very valuable time Bass fishing and learned a lot. H got couple bites and caught 2 Bass that day. I think this pond has some high potential and I’m very excited to come back again.

2011 ICAST Show!! いよいよ開催まで残り2週間を切りました。今年の新製品の発表！紹介！着々と準備が整ってきています。皆さんお楽しみにしてください。

今週は、サンペドロからバラクーダ狙いで、釣り仲間であるKさん・Sさんと出発です。天候も快晴・風無し、バラクーダも表層に上がって来る事を期待して釣行開始です。早速、ポイント到着後PT100DDからキャスト！！するとなんと！！数キャストでこの日の乗員の中で最初の当たり！！バラクーダを引き上げ幸先が良いスタートです。すぐさまルアーをチェンジし、今年の新商品FM120DDでも1匹をＧＥＴ。この日の早朝は少し深場でアタリが続き、バラシもあったが好感触であった。

日の上がり具合で表層系（FM110.130 ）にチェンジをしたが当りが無くなり、ポイント移動に・・・。この時点で、ライブベイトでの釣行者には、当りが無い様子であった。ポイントの移動後…再度、FM130で開始したが、やはりアタリが無い！！そこでルアーチェンジ！！レンジを深く潜りさらに、サイズダウンをしてBIGUPにチェンジした所、一投目にキーパーサイズのキャリコバス、さらに数キャストでまたキャリコバスを連続ＧＥＴ！！一旦、勢いも止まり、反対側に移動し、ルアーをステイシー90にチェンジ！！ココからが、この日一番の初バラクーダーのボイルと所謂、爆釣状態のスタートであった。1時間強の間、おそらく20匹（小型のも含め）は優位越える、バラクーダを引き上げ、釣り上げるたびにルアーチェンジとカラーチェンジを繰り返した。また、今回は同船の方も一緒にいるので、ボイルが良く起きる場所にルアーとジグを交互に投げ込み場所を３人で共有し釣行をした。たまに、船の反側にも移動をしキャストをしたが、まったく反応な無くなりポイントの重要性も知る事ができた。

今回の釣行では、前回体験したバラクーダ釣行の時ほど（サンタモニカ沖バラクーダ大型）、魚自体サイズは大型では無いが、本来西海岸でのバラクーダ釣りはジグを表層で早巻きをし、当りを待つスタイルがメインだが、今回はジグよりも自分なりのルアー戦術結果では、表層よりの若干深い所をゆっくり巻き上げる方が良く！！さらに、メタリックサーディンもちろんの事、グリーン系・ホワイト系のルアーに当りが多く感じられた。

この日の釣行では、リガールサイズのバラクーダ15匹とキャリコバス2匹を釣り上げた。

The 2011 ICAST Show is just 2 more weeks away! I would like to introduce this year’s new products! Our preparation is moving forward to completion. I hope everyone is looking forward to the show.

This week I went to San Pedro to catch some Barracuda with my fishing buddies “K” & “S”. The weather was nice and sunny with no winds. Hoping the Barracudas are up in the surface, we started fishing. After arriving to our fishing spot, I immediately cast a PT100DD!! Then surprisingly after a couple casts, I got the very first bite out of all the passengers!! I pulled up the Barracuda and it was definitely a good start for me. I then changed lures to this year’s new product, the FM120DD and caught another one. On this early morning, I continued to catch some in a deeper area. I did get some short bites, but it felt nice to get some catches.

After the sun came up, I changed lures to surface lures (FM110 & FM130), but couldn’t get any bites. We then moved to a different location… At this point, the people who were using live baits seemed to be getting no bites. After changing locations, I started off using the FM130, but got nothing! Again, I decided to change lures to aim at a deeper range and decreased the size to a BIGUP. I then caught a keeper size Calico Bass! Then, after couple more castings, I kept catching more Calico Bass!! Once that slowed down, I decided to go on the other side of the boat and change lures to the Staysee 90!! From here, I came across a Barracuda boil for the first time and started catching them like crazy. Within an hour, I caught over 20 (including small size fishes) Barracuda. And every time I pulled one up, I continued changing lures and colors as well.

Since there were other fishermen on the boat, we alternated throwing in lures and jigs at boils and I got to share an area with 2 other people. I sometimes moved to the other side of the boat, but didn’t get anything and that made me realize how important those fish boils are.

In this fishing trip, unlike my last Barracuda fishing experience (at Santa Monica Bay – large size Barracuda was caught), the fishes weren’t as big. The main technique for Barracuda fishing in the west coast is to use jigs in the surface area while fast retrieving and you wait for a bite. However, instead of using a jig, I used a lure. And in result, with my very own lure tactics by slightly going at a deeper range from the surface while slow retrieving, it seemed to work better for me!! The “Metallic Sardine” color was a must, but green and white color lures seemed to work pretty good also!

On this fishing trip, I caught 15 legal size Barracuda and 2 legal size Calico Bass.

世界中のラッキークラフトファンの皆さま～！Daily Flash Minnow Weekly Reportになります！

いや～！ヒラメシーズン到来です。前回アラミトスビーチでお友達になった、Raney君からすばらしいメールを受け取りました。ヒラメをもっている青年がＲａｎｅｙ！！『ヒラメが釣れた写真です』フラッシュミノーではないが、ポインター128（Aurora Black）で、グッドサイズのヒラメです。Raney！ありがとうございます。　そんな情報を元に、自分も大型のヒラメを狙いに行くことにしました。（言い過ぎです！）

釣行当日、天候は最悪な状況・・小雨まじりの横風！！しかし、満月時期のこの時期、ヒラメが産卵のため岸際まで集まってくると知人から聞き、しかも、Raneyの写真！小雨の中、キャストを開始した。当然のこと、釣り人もいなく寂しく一人での釣り・・・。

霧も深く曇り空の中、カラーはダーク系で開始。いつも釣れるコーナーでは反応がなく、ビーチ沿い移動をしながらキャスト。前回のように、水温が冷たすぎて足をつける事の出来ないくらい感覚！（僕は非常に寒がりです）打寄せる波に気をつけながら釣行をするが、膝まで浸かれない分、７～９ｍぐらいキャスト距離が伸びず、喰いのチャンスを逃している感じがする。自分で決めてる移動距離（300ｍ）を1往復、天候が悪い時はもちろんカラーは！！ダーク系から初め、白・グリーンとカラーローテション。あたりはゼロ！！今度は、コーナーに戻りレンジを変更して、この日の満潮に合わせてPT100DDに変更し、くまなく風の影響を考えキャストし怪しいポイントにルアーを通してもアタリなし・・・。午後を前にして、雨の勢いも強まり断念することにした。

やはり、前日の釣行が良くても、水温が低くなると活性はおちて渋くなります。リーガルはまた今度にとっておきます。

“Cold Rain”

Well~! It is now officially Halibut season. I received a wonderful message from my new friend Raney who I met on my last fishing trip at Alamitos Bay. He sent me a picture of him holding a Halibut!! He wrote “A picture of me fishing a Halibut” along with the image. He didn’t catch it with a Flash Minnow, but he did catch a good size Halibut with the Pointer 128 (Aurora Black). Raney! Thank you very much. With that exciting news, I headed out to catch a big size Halibut as well (I over exaggerated!)

On the day of my fishing trip, the weather was in horrible condition… Wind blowing sideways and sprinkling!! However, I was told that this time of season in full moon, Halibuts are spawning and they gather to the shore. And not only that, Raney’s picture! Even in the sprinkling rain, I started casting. Of course there were no other fishermen and it was a sad and lonely fishing day…

It was cloudy with very thick fog and I started off using a dark colored lure. Even in the area where I usually catch some, I got no reaction. But I continued to cast while moving along the beach. Like last time, the water temperature was extremely cold and I could barely put my feet in the water! (I’m very sensitive to the cold also…) I was being very carful with the approaching waves, and since I couldn’t get the water to go no further than below my knees, I felt that my casting distance was about 7~9m short and maybe missing my chance for bites. I did a whole round trip with travel distance of 300m which I’ve decide for myself. I also used the usual color rotation when the weather is bad: I start off with a dark color lure, then white, then green. And I got absolutely no bites!! I finally went back to the corner and did a range change. Considering that it is high tide, I changed it to a PT100DD and while being very aware of the wind condition, I continued to cast in suspicious areas. I again got nothing… It was getting close to noon and the rain was getting stronger so I decided to give up for the day.

I realized that even when it was in good fishing condition the day before, if the water temperature decreases, the fishes become less active and becomes tougher to fish. I will save my legal size for next time.

P.S. I’m going to order a wader from Japan!! Then I should be ok even when the water temperature is cold!!
