今日は久しぶりのブレントと一緒に、彼のホームレイク！レイクペリスに行って参りました。

到着すぐに、『今日は釣れるよ!』とブレントに言われ、ハードベイトオンリーで釣行を楽しみました。

シャローエリアに沈んでる木・グラスの上をＬＶ–ＲＴＯ150（ゴーストミノー）でただ巻きで、朝一ヒット！！

このレイクはブレントいわく！チャート系よりもゴースト系が効く！！　バッチリ当たりました。そして、午後1時ぐらいにシェード奥！ここにキャストが決まればバスは必ず居る！と確信を持って投げた、キャスト!完璧なイメージ通り！！またもやヒット！　使用したルアーは現在開発のルアー！まだ、皆様にお伝えできませんが・・・お許しください

秘密ルアーで2匹！を釣り上げ、大満足でバス釣りを楽しみむ事ができました。　

ブレントは？　さすが超1流プロ！　ブレント自身が開発した、LC-1.5DRSで3匹！その後は秘密のルアーで8匹まさしく爆釣です。

FNN Event 2

世界中のラッキークラフトファンの皆さま～！Daily Flash Minnow Weekly Reportになります！

FNNイベントの続きになります。ラッキークラフトスポンサーのキャスティングコンテストが集計中に行われ、サブイベントとして高難度ゲームとして、皆様に笑顔をいただきました。キャスティングコンテスの内容は、キャストする所から15ｍ先にループを三つ用意し、一人3回その枠に正確にキャストし入れるとうい内容です。30名ほどの方が参加しましたが、これがなかなか難しく、枠に入った方3名のみ！みなさん残念そうな表情を浮かべていました、しかし、さすがアメリカ人ヒョウキンなジョークを入れながら楽しんでいました。優勝された方は、ラッキークラフトよりお楽しみＢＯＸを贈呈させていただきました。イベント最後には、ラッフル抽選会が行われ、豪華賞品が多くあり本当に釣り人達は大喜びのイベントでした。

イベント中は、ＳＷＡＴメンバーさん調理のホットドック・ハンバーガー・マグロのステーキなど、イベント参加者がボランティアで持ってきた食事で、本当に家族的なイベントで心が満たされる内容で終わることができました。ラッキークラフトがイベントに参加するとの事で、テスターのピーター・レニーが色々な質問・談義で大活躍してくれました。　皆さん、本当にありがとうございました！！

This is a continuation report from my previous post on the FNN event.

In this Lucky Craft sponsored event included a casting contest as a highly difficult sub-event and everyone seemed to be having a great time with it. The rule was to cast in one of the 3 loops 15m away and each person had to cast directly within the frames 3 times. This was a lot harder than it seemed and out of about 30 participants, only 3 succeeded! Everyone looked pretty bummed, but at the same time having a lot of fun! For those who won, a Lucky Craft surprise box was given as a prize! The event ended with the raffle and many prizes were given out to the winners for that as well! I can confidently say everyone had a great time!

During the event, the SWAT members were cooking hot dogs, hamburgers, tuna steaks and more provided by event participants and volunteers. It really was a very warm & friendly event. As a sponsor, Lucky Craft testers – Peter & Raney presented several lectures & answered questions. Thank you very much everyone!!

FNN Event – Part 1

世界中のラッキークラフトファンの皆さま～！Daily Flash Minnow Weekly Reportになります！

FNN(Fishing Network.net)が主催する、マリブビーチでのサーフフィッシングイベントに大会スポンサーとして、行ってまいりました。このイベントは、FNNの創設者Danaさんのメモリアルフィッシングイベントとして、今年で4年目のイベンﾄになります。

当日のイベント参加費などは一切無し！！前日までに、ＷＥＢからメンバー登録をし、Ｄａｎａさんメモリアルを目的に1日大人子供関係なく釣りを楽しんでもらう！さらに、一般フィッシュダービー・キッズダービー・キャスティングコンテストなど様々企画があり、大変盛り上がりのあるイベントでした。なんと、イベント登録参加者200名以上、会場にはスタッフ含め250名以上の釣り人でビーチにビッシリ人です。ダービー内容は午後1時までに何匹の魚をキャッチできるか？？一番多かった人に賞品がもらえる至ってシンプルな方法。キッズダービーは午後1時より一定の時間を決め、釣果数の多かった子供が1位の方法で進められた。

ルアーキャスティングをされる釣り人は、ほとんど言っても過言ではなく皆さんＦＭ110をリグしていました。本当にうれしいものですね！溺愛するＦＭ110がこんなにも多くの釣り人に愛用されていて感謝です。

In Malibu Beach, there is a surf fishing event held by FNN (Fishing Network.net) and I went as one of the tournament sponsors. And this time it was the founder of the FNN – Dana’s memorial fishing event and was also the 4th year event.

This event had no entry fee and all you had to do was register online through their website the day before the event. The purpose of this event in regards to Dana’s memorial was for everyone, including children and adults, to just enjoy fishing! They had various fun competitions including: fishing derby, kid’s derby, casting contests and more. Everybody seemed to be having so much fun! There were over 250 registered participants and over 250 staff members and the beach was full of people! The fishing derby rule was very simple – whoever caught the most fish until 1pm won a prize (the same rule applies to the kid’s derby).

Among the people who were lure casting were mostly using the FM110. I was extremely happy to see that! I was very grateful to see so many people using my favorite and beloved FM110.

Lake Elsinore!!

Lake Elsinoreにリージョナルスタッフのブライアンさんとケビンさんとでバス釣りに行ってきました。今回行く湖は初の釣行で、バスを釣るポイントとしては、プライベートハウスのバックヤード（庭）から湖に向かって伸びているフェンスが一般的なストラクチャーとなり、また、岩が所々散乱している場所のついているバスを狙うパターン！

最初のバイトはフェンス沿いにLV-RTO200（チャート系）バイブレーションをフェンスギリギリに投げ込み、2秒待ってからのリトリーブに一発ヒット！余りにも久しぶり過ぎて、慌ててバラしてしまいましたが、何とか姿は確認できたので！ちょっぴり喜び！その後、なかなかバイトを獲られず、やっと来たのが、スピナーベイトレデンプション1/2oz！　掛かったと思ったところで、自分のリトリーブが遅く、バスをストラクチャーから引きずり出せず、フェンスの下に潜り込まれてしまい、あえなくラインブレイク！！またもや逃がしてしまいました。この日は、ノーフィッシュでしたが！やはりバス釣りは楽しい！釣れればもっと最高！！

連れて行っていただいた、ブライアンさんは5匹バイブ・ジグ・スピナーで釣り上げてました。　やっぱり師匠は上手かった！

もっと、キャスト精度を上げなければです！！

This time, I went Bass fishing in Lake Elsinore with our regional staff, Brian & Kevin. This is my first time fishing at this location and to explain the general structure of this place – there are fences extending towards the lake from the backyard of a private house. There are rocks scattered everywhere so my fishing technique was to aim for the Bass that are around those rocks.

My very first bite of the day was with the LV-RTO200 Vibration (Chart color) and I casted very close along the fences. I waited for 2 seconds and started retrieving and got the bite! It has been so long since my last Bass fishing so I kind of panicked & accidentally let it go. But I was able to confirm its existence & location so that was a relief. However, after that I wasn’t able to get any more bites so I decided to change my lure to the Spinnerbait Redemption 1/2oz! I then got a bite, but my retrieve was too slow and couldn’t pull out the Bass from the structure area! It swam under the fence and my line broke!! I let another one go… I wasn’t able to catch any this day, but I have to say – Bass fishing is so fun! And if u catch any, it’s even more fun!!

Brian who kindly took me on this fishing trip caught 5 with a vibrating lure, jig & spinnerbait. Just as I thought, he was an expert!

I got to practice more on my casting accuracy!!

日本から戻り、早速ヒラメ釣行にBolsa Chicaに出かけて見ました。釣行場所に着くやすぐさま確認できたのは、少し大きめ（10ｃｍぐらい）のベイトフィッシュ。そこで、今回FM130MR(メタリックサーディーン)でスタート。なんと２キャスト目でドッカーン！大きい当たりに合わせて慎重に引き上げると22インチちょっとのヒラメ！写真撮影を終え、ルアーをFM110・新商品のFPT115にルアーチェンジ。しかし、当たりは止まり、再度FM130MR（MSアンチョビ）に変更後、１キャスト目に再度、いい当たりが！またまた、ヒラメ！！しかも、サイズアップの23インチです。その後、FM130MRを投げ続けてさらに小型のヒラメ2枚を追加！

この日は、計4枚のヒラメが釣れました！！　今回、非常に良かったポイントは、ルアーのサイズでしょうか！始めにポイントに到着した際に確認できた、ベイトフィッシュのサイズに合わせたルアー選びと濁りの関係もあって、日ごろよりゆっくりリトリーブをし、イレギュラーアクションが大切になってくるのだと思う。まだ、確立されたパターンではないが、次回に持ち越してみようと思います。ヒラメシーズンも残り僅かですが、なにか新発見が出来ればいいね！！

Soon after I came back from my Japan trip, I headed to Bolsa Chica for some Halibut fishing. As soon as I arrived at my fishing location, I spotted some quite large baitfish (about 10cm). So I started off using the FM130MR (in Metallic Sardine). After only 2 casts I got a bite!! I carefully pulled up a Halibut which was a little over 22in! After taking some pictures, I changed my lure to the FM110 and also used our new FPT115 (Flash Pointer 115), but didn’t get any bites… I then changed my lure back to the FM130MR (in MS Anchovy) and on my very first cast I got another bite! It was another Halibut!! It was a bit larger than the previous at about 23in long. I decided to continue using the FM130MR and caught 2 more small size Halibuts!

In total, I caught 4 Halibuts this day!! I believe the best decision I made was the lure size. I chose my lure size from observing the size of the baitfish when I first arrived here. I also considered the water turbidity level and retrieved slowly than usual and more irregular actions became important this day. It didn’t become an established technique, but I will try it again next time. The Halibut season is almost over, so I hope to discover some new techniques before it ends!!

横浜シーバス体験 (Yokohama Seabass Fishing Experience)

日本滞在期間を利用して、横浜港シーバスを３年ぶり行ってきました。この日は午前中より雨天で午後便予約の私達は中止かな？と思っていいましたが、午前便でジギングによるシバースが4匹上がっているとのキャプテンの連絡があり要相談の上、風と雨が弱くなるの待って出航予定時間の2時より１時間遅らせて、スタートしました。

ルアーフィシング重視の私は、橋脚まわり・壁沿い・ちょっとしたストラクチャー攻めをリクエストし、シーバス一級ポイントのみを限定でキャストを続けました。この日は天候の関係やベイトフィッシュがやや深い位置にいたため、限られた時間でルアーを付け替える時間も無駄にしたくなく、実績ナンバー1のバリッド（カラーはＴＲＧ）をとにかく投げまくる！今回使用したバリッドの特徴は、濁り水時に非常に重宝されるサーチベイト。また、スローでも綺麗にアクションするため、ボトム付近でのストップ＆ゴー、ただ巻きでもゆっくり引くことできボトムトレースも確実にできる！釣果実績最高峰のルアーです。

ポイント付近では、明暗のある場所やシーバスが居るであろうという一級ストラクチャーポイントをピンポイントでキャストをしていくが、残念ながら、ノーフィッシュで終了でした。（３年前と比べ、キャスト精度はかなり上がっている自分に驚きでした）残念ながら、雨の関係で表層の塩分濃度が薄いため、ＦＭ110の出番はありませんでした。

雨天の中、様々ポイントに移動してくれた、この日のストライカーのキャプテンハヤカワさんに大感謝です。再度、リベンジを誓ってきました。

I took advantage of my stay in Japan and went Seabass fishing in Yokohama. It has actually been 3 years since the last time I’ve been here. On this day, it rained in the morning and even thought of cancelling our afternoon appointment to go boat fishing. However, we received a call from the captain stating that he caught 4 while jigging for Seabass in the morning. So after a thorough discussion, we decided to wait until the rain and wind calms down more. We ended up leaving 1 hour after our scheduled time at 3 o’clock.

Since I value lure fishing the most, I requested to go near areas such as the pier, along walls, and structures and continued to cast only around those areas. Due to the weather condition and since the baitfish were slightly at a deeper area, my fishing time was limited. I didn’t even want to waste my time switching lures, so I decided to use one of my best lure, the Varid (Color: TRG) and continued to cast with it! This lure is a great search bait and extremely useful in turbid water conditions. It performs beautifully in slow actions as well. It can also be used in various ways: stop and go near the bottom, slowly straight retrieves and definitely great for bottom tracing! A very high performance lure!

I continued to cast at pinpointed areas where I believe Seabass would be – structure locations with light and dark areas. Unfortunately, I ended the day catching nothing… (But I was actually surprised by how much more accurate my casting skills became compared to 3 years ago.) It was too bad I couldn’t use the FM110 due to the low salinity surface water due to the rain.

I want to thank Captain Hayakawa for transporting from one location to another in the rain. I will definitely come back for my revenge!

勝浦 (Katsuura, Japan)

今回は、日本から緊急ＤＦＭになります。学生時代に4年間住んでいた勝浦市の守谷海岸というところで、アジ・キス釣りに挑戦してみました。

ここ守谷は水質も良く、潮の流れが他と違うことから、貝類（アワビ・サザエ）などが良く取れるところでも有名な海岸である。

早速、学生時代にお世話になった地元の漁師さんからお勧めのポイントを紹介してもらい、場所移動を開始。漁師さんからのお薦め通り、堤防先端から、新商品のＳＶとストリームドライブで湾内を四方八方にキャスト開始。堤防沿いギリギリにいついている、キスの仲間が、何度かスローに引いてくるストリームドライブにアタックをしてくる、いわゆるキスバイトでなかなか合わせる事がで出来ず・・。日ごろはアメリカで釣りをしているので、このような繊細なアタリを感じ、魚を釣る！自分自身の経験不足を感じた。

最後まで釣果を得る事ができませんでしたが、繊細な釣りと地方から来られて居た釣り人と、海釣りについて色々とお話ができ、有意義な釣行になりました。もちろんラッキークラフトの商品も紹介してもらいまいた！！！　一期一会・一魚一会ですね！

This is a surprise DFM report from Japan. I grew up in Katsuura, Japan for 4 years as a student and I’m actually back here to challenge Mackerel & Sand-Smelt fishing in Moriya coast.

Moriya is known to have very good water quality with different tides compared to other coasts. For that reason, they catch many Shellfish (Abalone, Turban Shell, etc.) and are very widely known for it.

I immediately visited a local fisherman who use to take care of me when I lived here and asked for some fishing advice. Afterwards I started fishing in the area he had recommended which was at the end point of the dike and cast our new products, SV & Stream Drive in every direction possible. I saw some Mackerel along the dike and they continued to attack the Stream Drive as I slowly retrieved. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the Mackerel to bite… To get a bite after feeling this subtle hit was difficult for me especially because I am so use to fishing in America. I really felt my lack of experience this time around…

I wasn’t able to catch anything until the end, but I was able to experience a completely different type of fishing and also was able to talk to the local fishermen about saltwater fishing and actually became an extremely significant day to remember. I got to introduce our Lucky Craft products as well!!!

2012 SWBA 速報 (2012 SWBA Announcement)

速報です。年に7回、南カルフォルニアの各ポイントで開催されますSWBA(Salt Water Bass Anglers)。第6戦ラッキークラフト・アイマカップで、ラッキークラフトがスポンサーをしている、Team Hammerが5フィッシュ21.88lbで優勝をしました。さらに当日、ビッグフィッシュも釣り上げ総なめです。2012年間優勝をしてくれると最高ですね！大会スポンサーとして、表彰式後には今年の新商品PT100/PT128のSR,SSRを紹介させていただきました。

いつの日か・・Team Lucky Craftで出場してみたいものです。

I have an important announcement to make! At the SWBA (Salt Water Bass Anglers) tournament held 7 times a year in Southern California, our sponsored team, Team Hammer won the 6th competition and received the Lucky Craft – IMA cup. They got 5 fish, 21.88lb to win this competition. They even caught a big fish that day and completely defeated the other teams. It would be great if they win the 2012 total annual competition!  As a proud sponsor of this tournament, we were able to introduce our new products of this year – the Pointer 100, Pointer 128 SR & SSR after the award ceremony.

Someday… I would love to participate in this competition as Team Lucky Craft.

Long Beach Jetty 09-23-12

It has been a great year of fishing for me personally especially for halibut. I’m up to 12 legal halibuts and many more shorts. I’ve witnessed friends pull up legals and proudly assisted in their catch. While I was looking at fishing reports, I had an itch to fish the night before and texted Raney to see if he wanted to fish. He was on the same page as I was so off to catch some halibut. We arrived at 630am to a beautiful and sunny day at Long Beach Jetty. The conditions seemed so perfect to fish because birds were diving everywhere and you could see bait everywhere and the water was clear. We both were using the FM 120DD and throwing where the bait and birds were diving. I picked up my first fish but unfortunately it was a lizard fish. Our friend James arrives later and we let him use a rod and reel with a FM 120DD pearl white color. After about 30 minutes or so, he gets a big hook up and I net it to see a 24 inch halibut at the end of his line. We were all excited but the rest of the day, we couldn’t get any hook ups.

マグロ釣り 2 (Tuna Fishing – Part 2)

パート1の続きになります！その後、2時間ほどでケルプストップを繰り返し釣果の無いまま・・タタミ8畳ほどの大きめのケルプを発見！！少しずつとケルプとの距離が近づき、我先にルアーをキャスト！！小型のイエローテール・ドラドといった回遊魚が盛んに船近辺を回遊し、ルアーを追って来るがなかなか喰いつかない!!　通常、ただ巻きでルアーを引くのが基本であるが、あまりにも見切られるので最近ヒラメでも良く使う作戦、『ストップ・ゴー』リトリーブ変更！　変化をつけたことで、2投目のキャストでやっと自分のルアー！FM190SRに小型のイエローテールがヒットするが、小型だったのでリリースしてしまいました。残念ながら、写真が取れませんでしたが、ビデオ撮影に成功していますので後日、更新いたします。

時は流れ、2時間ほどケルプも発見できず、呆然と時間が過ぎる・・・しかし、そこに現れたのはイルカの大群！！　マグロ釣りではイルカは、最高の魚探なのだ！！イルカの進行方向先に、ボートスピード落とし始めたと同時に、ベイトを流し込むと・・・ガッツーン！！大きな当たりがあり！約10分ぐらいの格闘の末、黒マグロ（ブルーフィンツナ）とはいきませんでしたが、初のキハダマグロ（イエローフィンツナ）をゲット！！　初マグロという事で、儀式があるらしく、その場でマグロの心臓を頂きました。これで、自分もマグロハンターに入門です。味については、生レバーに似た味わい深いお味でした。

釣行途中、奇跡的にも虹色の雲を発見！！　その後にマグロゲットです。
また、今回の釣行の模様も撮影をしていますので、近日公開いたします！！お楽しみに！！

This will be a continuation report from last week! So after continuing to make kelp stops for 2 hours, there were no catches… We then found a pretty big kelp bed and slowly approached the area – I rushed to be the first one to cast!! There were many migratory fishes such as Yellowtail and Dorado all around the boat and I see them going after my lure but they just wouldn’t bite!! Usually I would retrieve my lure normally, but since the fishes seem to know better, I decided to try the technique I quite often use lately when Halibut fishing. The “Stop & go” retrieving technique! After changing my method, on my 2nd cast I finally got a bite with the FM190SR – it was a small Yellowtail, but since it was small I decided to release it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a picture of it, but we did catch it on camera and I will be posting that up in the near future!

Another 2 hours passed without finding a single kelp… But all of a sudden we found a group of dolphins!! Dolphins are actually great fish finders in tuna fishing!! We headed towards the direction the dolphins were going and the boat speed was reduced. Along with that we threw in our baits and… bam! I felt a big one and battled with it for about 10min! Unfortunately it wasn’t a Bluefin Tuna, but I did catch my very first Yellowfin Tuna!! Since it was my first time catching a Tuna, there was a small ritual where I received its heart at the spot. Now I have become an official Tuna hunter. As for the taste of it, it was quite flavorful and tasted similar to raw lever.

P.S.
While fishing, I miraculously found a rainbow colored cloud!! And right after that I caught the Tuna! We have filmed this fishing trip as well and will be posting it up soon, so please stay tuned!!
